This library covers Senrui's five major mold steel systems: ● Pre-hardened Plastic Mold Steel (P20 / 718H / 2738 / 2312), ● Mirror-Finish Mold Steel (NAK80 / NAK55), ● Corrosion-Resistant Stainless Mold Steel (S136 / 420), ● Hot-Work Mold Steel (H13 / 2344 / 8407 / 2343), ● Cold-Work High-Wear Mold Steel (DC53 / SKD11). Materials are split into two categories: ● Senrui Internal Grades are in production use (verified against supplier TDS); ● Reference General Grades come from a general steel knowledge base for comparison. FAQ

Mold Steel Material FAQ

Common questions on mold steel selection and application? Our engineers will answer.

How to select mold steel?+

By product type and requirements: for high-gloss appearance choose mirror steel (NAK80/S136); for corrosion resistance choose stainless steel (S136/420); for long-life hot molds choose hot-work steel (H13/2344); for high-wear stamping choose cold-work steel (DC53); for general structures choose pre-hardened steel (P20/718H).

What is the difference between pre-hardened steel and hardened steel?+

Pre-hardened steel is heat-treated at the mill and ready to use with low machining deformation; hardened steel requires post heat treatment to reach hardness, suited to higher wear/corrosion resistance but needs deformation control.

What steel for mirror-finish molds?+

NAK80 is mirror-finished as delivered, no heat treatment; S136 can reach mirror after hardening and is corrosion-resistant, suitable for transparent / medical parts.

Why use H13/2344 for hot-work molds?+

Excellent red hardness and thermal fatigue resistance; withstands high mold temperatures and rapid heating/cooling (e.g., RHCM, die casting).

Which mold steels does Senrui commonly use?+

P20 / 718H / NAK80 / S136 / H13 / 2344 / DC53, etc. are commonly used in mass production; see the Nine-Dimension Atlas card for details.
